Spring Schedule

Everybody is going to Vegas for the Hall of Fame Classic, and foosball is going to be quiet in the bay area for a while afterwards. The new schedule is up on the calendar.

Week of March 7th: everything is canceled. If you want to play foosball, fly to Vegas.

Thursday, March 17th: Kennedy’s starts up again, thank you Lih Chen! Every Thursday, 8 PM.

Tuesday, March 29th: California Billiards starts up again. Every Tuesday, 8 PM.

Saturday, April 9th: Cuetopia starts up again. Every Saturday, 8 PM.

Event format for Cuetopia is up in the air, let Dana, Steve, or Brian know what you’d like to see.

Schedule Tweaks

Saturday singles now starts at 5:30 PM.

Shake-n-bake draw side entry fees are now $10.

We’re moving singles earlier because of conflicts; the doubles finals weren’t wrapping up until 1:30 AM.

Entry fees are going up on the draw side because with so many draw team players, folks who took 2nd place on the bring side weren’t even making their money back.

Full schedule:

Every Tuesday: DYP at California Billiards in Fremont. 100% payback, $10 entry. First time beginners play free subject to tournament director’s discretion. Sign-ups close at 8 PM. TD: Phil Schlaefer, for additional info contact bayfoos@gmail.com.

Every Thursday: DYP at Kennedy’s Irish Pub and Curry House in San Francisco. 100% payback, $10 entry. First time beginners play free subject to tournament director’s discretion. Sign-ups close at 8 PM. TD: Lih Chen.

Every Saturday: Open Singles and Shake-n-Bake at Cuetopia Billiards Cafe in San Jose. TD: Brian Eaton + Steve Corioso @ 408-624-0285. Singles sign-ups close at 5:30 PM, SnB sign-ups close at 8 PM.

Singles rules: 100% payback. $15 pro+, $10 expert, $5 amateur/rookie. Beginners play FREE until they cash once, then they pay $5 entry.

Shake-n-Bake rules: 100% payback. Bring team players: $20 pro+, $15 expert, $10 amateur/rookie, $5 beginner. Draw team players: $10. Format is either split brackets (best draw team guaranteed at least third place!) or draw teams get a point spot when they play against bring teams.

February Points Race

The February points race will run from February 2nd through March 1st. Just like January, all events at California Billiards and Cuetopia are eligible. We’ve got a new twist though: prizes are big discounts off entry to the Hall of Fame Classic in Las Vegas!

Overall Points Leader: $100 off a package to the Hall of Fame Classic in Vegas. This is open to players of all ranks.

Top Expert: Free package for the HOFC Warm-Up at California Billiards, March 4th-6th.

Top Rookie/Amateur player: free amateur package for Vegas.

Top Beginner: Free package for the HOFC Warm-Up at California Billiards, March 4th-6th.

Players who won the January points race are also eligible to win the February points race prizes, but no one gets to win more than one prize. If the same player in a category wins in both January and February, they can pick their prize. The second place player in February gets the other prize.

If different players in the same category win in January and February, they play a best of five singles match to see who gets to pick the prize.

For example, Ray won the January Rookie/Amateur prize. If Melvin wins top Rookie/Amateur in February, Ray and Melvin will play a best of five singles match. The winner takes the free amateur package for the HOFC (the February prize), and the loser gets the free package to the HOFC warm-up.

These prizes have no cash value and are non-transferrable. Tie breakers will work the same way as they did in January:

1) Number of finishing points vs number of attendance points: the player with more points for top 3 finishes wins.

2) Winning record: Player with more 1st place finishes wins, then with more 2nd place finishes, etc…

Any questions, let us know!

The February points race kicks off Tuesday night and runs through March 1st. All events at California Billiards and Cuetopia are eligible. We can’t announce prizes yet, but here are some teasers:

1. We’ll have a grand prize for the overall points leader in February: all ranks are eligible.

2. Players who won in January are also eligible to win in February, but they can only pick one prize.

3. If different players in the same category win in January and February, we’ll have a play-off to see who gets to pick their prize first.

If you want the best prize, you’d better work on your singles game…
