Playing Foosball in the SF Bay Area

We get a lot of questions about where to play foosball in the Bay Area. We’ve got answers.

Tuesday nights: free play + tournaments at California Billiards in Fremont. Free play runs from 7-8pm. We play pick-ups and do some teaching. If you want, you can stay for the tournament that runs from 8-11pm. We keep the tournaments fun and casual. First timers play free.

Thursday nights: occasional pick-up games at the Emporium in San Francisco, usually around 8 pm. Check in on the SF Foos group to see if folks plan on meeting up.

Friday nights: pick-ups at Cuetopia in San Jose. Folks show up starting between 7 and 8, and play until late.

We usually host a double header tournament (Singles and Doubles) once a month on a Saturday. Check bayfoos.com for updates on date and location for the next double header.

We love new players and visitors. Check the SF Foos facebook group or e-mail bayfoos@gmail.com with questions.

As of April 2022, masks are encouraged, but optional at our events.

Bayfoos is Now Mask-Optional

Masks and contact tracing are now optional (but encouraged) at Bayfoos events.

Bayfoos was closed for most of the pandemic. Even after reopening in 2021, we required masks and contact tracing for all players participating in our events. This was very frustrating for players who wore glasses, since playing with fogged up lenses is difficult. As of April 2022, Bay Area Covid cases are low enough that we’re now making masks optional.

We will continue to pay attention to case rates, and also to Covid wastewater dashboards that can give early warnings. If we start to see signs of another surge, we’ll switch back to requiring masks. Our goal is to keep our events fun, and having a tournament turn into a superspreader event would not be fun. Let’s do our part to keep each other safe.

Wrapping up the Vegas Warm-Up

I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of this foosball community. We had a wonderful tournament, a few out of state visitors, thrilling finals, and a small gift to support our top players as they head to Vegas.

Check out these matching jerseys for Adrian Zamora and Dana Marr, and for Sergie Aragones and James Castillo. I can’t wait to watch them battle it out with the best players in the world at the Hall of Fame Classic.

We’re pleased to announce the Bayfoos Vegas 2022 Points Race. Inflation is not always a bad thing, we’re giving out over $200 in prizes this time around.

We only have about 6 weeks until Vegas. Time to polish our skills and be ready.

1st Prize: $125
Top Expert: $75
Top Rookie: $45 in free entry

To win, show up and play in California Billiards tournaments from Feb 22 through Mar 26th. Each time you play an event, you get one attendance point. When you win or place in an event, you get bonus points depending on how you finish.

The $125 1st prize is open to everyone. 2nd prize is $75 cash, and only players ranked Expert and under are eligible to win. The top Rookie player can win $45 in free entry, enough to get you into three tournaments without you spending a dime.

For all of the sandbagging Rookies and Experts: you can only win one prize, and your ranking for this is the higher of your IFP points and your Bayfoos points. If someone finishes top in multiple categories, they get the higher value prize; the lower value prize goes to the runner up in the category.
